Frequently Asked Questions
We have summarised for you the most popular questions about jewellery and art insurance policies. But should you have any other questions feel free to use livechat, drop us an email or request a callback. We always happy to help!
Can I add items to my insurance policy?
You certainly can. Just email us confirming the type and value of the item you would like to add so we can calculate your additional premium if there is any.
Would my jewellery be covered when I'm abroad?
Yes, cover is worldwide. Any trips up to 60 days will be automatically covered under your policy.
Can I replace a lost item with my jeweller? Or will I receive a voucher?
We don’t offer vouchers where you must purchase the replacement at a specific jeweller. Whenever possible, the replacement will be made bespoke for you, hallmarked & delivered to your home address.
Our experienced and friendly claims team will always work closely with you to source the replacement. If they are unable to replace the item insured they will settle your claim in cash.
I'm insuring jewellery for my partner, who's name should be on the policy?
We suggest you have joint names on the policy so you both are fully protected, can file a claim or renew the policy. When purchasing you will be able to add joint policyholder. This doesn’t affect the premium.
Can I increase the sum insured on the policy?
Our insurance is not index linked as the items insured are individual items which should be regularly valued.
If you decide to increase the sum insured for any item over £2,500 we will ask for new valuation.
General contents or buildings sums insured can be increased at any time.
Do I need to provide valuation for every item?
We only require supporting document for jewellery over £2,500 or artworks over £5,000. This can be a copy of either valuation or purchase receipt.
How old should I be to get insurance?
Our minimum age is 21.
I don't have valuation. What do I do?
You can find the nearest reputable jeweller here: https://www.naj.co.uk/find-a-member
There are several online services whose valuations are acceptable by all major insurers. A good example: https://prestigevaluations.com/
My fiancé bought me a ring. Can I insure it?
Ideally your partner should insure the ring as soon as it’s purchased and in his/her possession. But you can still insure it as you are now considered as a legal owner of the item. You do not need to provide any additional documentation to prove the ownership.
I don’t know where to start. Can you advise?
We suggest you start from our products page to pick the type of cover. You will then need to complete a short questionnaire to get a price indication that we call insurance quote.
For jewellery, art and contents insurance you will get a quote within minutes.
For complicated home insurance enquiries we may need up to 48 hours to get suitable terms for you.
What information do you need from me?
For jewellery, art and contents insurance quotes we don’t need much – your name, postcode, DOB value of your stuff and contact email address. At the quote stage we do not require any specific details about the weight of your diamond or size of your painting.
For home insurance we require more specific information in order to get an accurate quote. The more information you supply, the higher chance you have of getting better terms.
I’m happy with the terms. How can I buy a policy?
All instructions will be in our quote. If you are still unsure what to do next please email us, come to livechat or give us a call. We value every client and are always happy to help in any way we can!
Purchasing process varies from product to product but it’s a pretty speedy process no matter what level of cover you require.
In most cases we will be able to activate your cover within minutes.
